Очень много стало йорков, не пора ли совершенствовать породу в плане улучшения качества зубов? Заводчиков хватает, разводятся все, кому не лень. А выбраковки по склонности к образованию зубного камня нет.
Результат - табуны беззубых собак. Это же издевательство над природой!
Мало того, что поиздевался человек, измельчив собаку неимоверно, так ещё и не отслеживается теперь развитие породы.

Genetic Diseases and Problems That Run in Breeds

This list is NOT all-inclusive and does not include all breeds. The fact that a particular breed is not included does NOT mean that breed does not have genetic diseases and problems inherent to it. We recommend that you check with the national breed club (www.akc.org for dogs) for information about genetic disorders inherent to your breed. All breeds have one or more problems!

MYTH DEBUNKED: Contrary to what some people think, choosing a "mix" over a purebred does not insure it will be free of genetic disorders. In fact, mixes potentially inherit more disorders as they get their genes from two or more different breeds each with problems of its own. And, because the genetic history of the parent animals is generally unknown, especially if the grandparent animals were also mixed, there is no way to know which genetic disorders an animal may have inherited, so you do not know what to watch or test for. The "potentiality" of a particular individual manifesting a particular genetic problem may be somewhat less in "mixes" in that they may be less prone to a doubling up of problem genes under specific circumstances, i.e., if the two animals bred do not have the same problems in both parents. For example, in dogs, if neither parent is prone to hip dysplasia, or if only one parent is prone to it, there is a decreased probability that the offspring will have it. Yet, if both parents have genetic HD, even if the parents are of different breeds, then there is an increased probability the dog will genetically inherit HD. Knowledge, therefore, is a powerful tool for use in avoiding genetic disorders in an pet.

The best way to avoid getting a pet with genetic disorders, if you are considering a breed with known disorders (and all breeds/mixes have them), is to require that THREE generations of ancestors (parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and siblings, if possible) be free, preferably TESTED FREE, of any such disorders. Although not a GUARANTEE, the probability that your animal will develop a disorder will be substantially reduced.

Responsible breeders test for genetic disorders, if a particular disorder runs in their breed and if testing is available, prior to breeding. Check with your veterinarian regarding the availability of tests for specific genetic disorders. Some disorders do not require genetic testing -- bad teeth, cryptorchidism, deafness, and under bites for example -- as they are obvious without such testing.
